the challenge

as we drove in to our garage several weeks ago i commented to the hubsters that i needed to finish clearing out the garage and buy some more bins. he commented that 12 should be enough. i looked at him and he looked at me (it's one of those moments that can only accurately be portrayed on some sitcom). i said "12 bins for the whole house?"  "uh, well, why? you think you can do 12 bins for the whole house?"
it was one of those conversations where we weren't quite understanding where the other person is coming from, but in the end to me it sounded more like a challenge. So i have taken it!
what things do you think you can do without?
i am freecycling like crazy. giving away stuff that hasn't been touched or used in months or years. we gave away our 6 year old christmas tree in favor of doing a fresh one next year that does not require storing. the kids' papers have been put in binders and toys have been junked or trunked.
it's a very liberating feeling to rid yourself of unneeded things. i don't think the children agree, but again i am the meanest mom in the world.

so12 bins full of non-essentials here we come!
(pretty sure that a move of furniture plus 12 bins is much easier to sell friends on helping)

rip my love

my poor phone died an uneventful death. we've had a long history together...well 3 years is a long time technology wise. i could have gotten a new phone anytime, but i love her.
she stopped ringing last month. i still held hope that i didn't need the phone to ring.
enter monday morning. early release for school. me shopping forgetting it was early release monday.
baby e sat in the school office for 45 minutes waiting for me to get there, all because i never heard my phone ring.
it took him 30 seconds to get over it. he looked at me and said "now can we go rent the wii game from blockbuster". love this kid. we got 2 video games for him and my new phone is on the way!

indulge me

i need to reminisce.

driving is an important part of my life. i know it seems funny and for many it is a burden to drive, but for me it is my freedom.
when todd and i were friends (remember those years before we were dating) we would drive. anywhere. anytime. we put hundreds if not thousands of miles on cars just driving. those drives were sometimes silly, sometimes quiet, sometimes serious and sometimes they were just plain ridiculous.
our relationship was cemented (pun intended) by drives. we were driving when he tried to break up with me. we were driving when we kissed in front of our roommates admitting that we were dating. we were driving(well parked)when we got engaged.
my roommates will always remember our annual drive up provo canyon on the first warm day of spring with windows rolled down and the radio blaring. i still say to todd on the first warm day "it's a provo canyon day". even on a recent date night we drove around the area for 3 hours and talked. it was fabulous
driving is my release and my stress reliever. so if you catch me alone in the car, driving aimlessly don't worry, i'm probably clearing my head.

oh, and again bonus points for the person who can correctly identify the road above.

everyones got 'em

olympic obsession

i have an obsession.
i am obsessed with the olympics.
this, however, is not a new obsession. i have very fond memories of watching the olympics with my mom and sisters. we even ran alongside the olympic torch as it passed along rt 50 in falls church for the '84 olympics.
i love the competition.
i love the suspense.
i love critiquing something that i have absolutely no knowledge about whatsoever.
i love looking at how all their bodies are shaped so differently according to the sport they do.
i love the olympics!

and on that note, i will go eat another piece of pie :)

yummy

we live in this awesome little house in a perfect location. we adore this house. it has some big downsides to it. it has not been updated since it was built in 1973. the kitchen is totally functional and the appliances are fairly new. however above is my dream. sigh. 10 points to the person who can identify where my dream kitchen is from!
