red wood!
we've been hanging out with this darling baby this week. it's so much fun! especially cause i don't have to get up at night with her. look at that awesome red hair!
oh....her mom's pretty cute too :)
oh my heck

i mentioned that whoever could name an object would get a blog post about them, and here it is.
so psycho...aka minds, aka mindalicious, aka min, aka whatever i felt like calling her, was my college roommate for 2 years. holy cow this girl! she is the most fabulous friend. she is the kind of friend that you can talk to even rarely and just instantly reconnect with. we have many a history together.
we met her freshman year living at the glenhole in provo. i think neither of us were in a very good place in our lives, but nonetheless we bonded. probably over boys and ice cream. we roomed the next two years together with dana. they were my bridesmaids, and my best friends, and the girls i knew would always be entertaining. they roomed together after i married the hubster and psycho ended up marrying, ready for this....the hubsters' roommates little brother...get that? well anyway it makes us nearly family. she has a completely infectious laugh, and has more energy than anyone i know. now, we bond over our boys....minus the ice cream, although we definitely need to.
i love you psycho.
psycho + weenie = bff4vr! lol
really? change is good?
2 weeks ago i showed up to church and a good brother tapped me on the shoulder and said "so are you going?". i had totally missed the teeny tiny slip of paper placed on the back pew that invited everyone from 3 wards and all singles to a special sacrament meeting the following week.
let the chaos ensue!
i watched and listened, and sadly participated in, the talk surrounding the impending ward split. we knew that we would lose our oakton compadres, and that would mean losing grandma and papa. big fat bummer!
one that fateful day (lol) i decided to leave the kids' home with dad, because i knew the meeting would be longer than the typical hour. good decision on my part because 2 and a half hour later i was on my way home, heartbroken, thrilled, overjoyed, saddened, shocked, and generally bi-polar.
our ward lost many good people, and i said goodbye to my lush lifestyle of cushy sacrament meetings.
we move onward and upward climbing our way out of our hole, and knowing that we will come out stronger and happier than before.
or at least that's what i say today :0)
kirtland weekend
we took off for kirtland thursday morning. it's a 6 hours drive and the kids were awesome. we arrived at our friend's house and it was playtime. the kids got into a water fight, and played hard. we got up friday morning and went into kirtland. it has changed quite a bit since i have visited and hubby has never been. again, the kids were great. it's an amazing place to be. i think the kids liked the sawmill the best.
we then dialed in the gps to see what else was around. i chose a submarine in downtown cleaveland. on the way there i got freaked out by f-16's flying around. i have lived in dc too long. i assumed that someone had flown into restricted airspace and were being "chased down". i never even thought of an air show. traffic literally crawled as we made our way to the air strip where the air force thundercats were practicing for the next day's air show. it was awesome!! these pilots are undeniably the best in the world. crazy!!!
we found the submarine and the kids had a blast shooting the boats in the lake down at the stern. lake erie was gorgeous and quite clean when compared to my recent visit to the potomac river.
we headed back to k&r's house for a night of food and fun. we headed out to watch the sunset on lake erie. wow! so much fun. we stood on the beach throwing and skipping rocks. so serene and calm.
it was an awesome weekend. no fighting between siblings. the friends all got along, and hopefully we got out before we wore out our welcome. it's nice to have such kind friends who allow us to crash their calm house for a few days. thank you!!!

you can't mess these up....
1 brick cream cheese at room temperature
1 stick butter at room temperature
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box devils food cake mix
mix together and refrigerate for 2 hours (i suggest during this time jogging or doing some sort of cardio cause you'll need it)
roll batter into balls and then roll them in powdered sugar.
bake for 12 minutes in 350 oven
i've got some at my house right now if you can't wait
radical dude
last week we invited several friends over for an 80's night. everyone dressed up and todd set up a projector and screen on the deck and we played clips of 80's; movies, commercials, tv shows and cartoons. we also played a guessing game of famous people of the 80's and a miniature version on name that tune. we also had people bring pictures of themselves from the 80's.
we had like, a totally, awesome time. here are some sick pics from the wicked rave,

love me and leave me
i have a problem. all my friends move away.
no, seriously! let me explain.
i have lots of friends, but i rarely have those to cry with, shop with and swap with. you know the kind that you can just drop kids off at with short/no notice. the kind who is willing to call you at 2:00am just to cry to you.
i have had less than a handful of these girlfriends during that past 15 years. making these friends is hard. i NEED this kind of friend.
this week i found out that another is moving. of the handful of girlfriends like this that i've had over 15 years only 1 still lives within driving distance. this week i learned that i'm losing another one. sigh. todd even mentioned that i should make friends with someone we don't like just to get them to move.
on the funny side wiki has a whole article dedicated to how to say goodbye to a friend. (13 year old girls' must use wiki a lot!)
enjoy......
How to Say Goodbye to Your Best Friend That Is Moving
Saying goodbye to a friend is not an easy thing to do. This article will help you say it and say it right.
1. As soon as you find out he or she is moving, let it sink in. Think about it...they're going to be gone. Gone. From then on, spend every moment you can with them, do things that your friend likes to do even if you don't.
2. Do not blame his or her parents/spouse. Maybe that friend's dad/spouse got a better job, or maybe they just need to go.
3.Cry as often as you like, holding it in isn't going to help.
4.Make a goodbye card for your friend. Include that he or she was and still is your Best Friend Forever (BFF).
5.Create a special present for her/him to remember you. It can be a photo album of pictures of you two, a poem you wrote for him/her,or what ever you think of that would mean a lot to your BFF.
6.Write to them, call them, email them, IM them, all of that once your friend moves... you do not want to lose touch with that friend!
7.Make new friends, but keep the old.
8.Be sure to tell your friend that you will love them forever. If you two were really attached, then it may be best that you tell her/him that you'll call them everyday (depending on your level of attachment)or every other day, every weekend, and so on.
9.You can even write a letter to make him/her special(Do not settle for printed copy).Mention the moments you shared etc.Make them realize the void in your life after them.
Tips: Tell them that you'll love him/her forever.
Don't stop being Best Friends, and don't lose contact.
Depending on level of attachment and other friends, don't switch to a new best friend.
