jp turned 8 and was finally able to attend cub scouts. he was dressed and ready to go at least 2 hours before the meeting started. he slicked his hair back 2 or 3 times to make sure it was just right. i have never seen a kid so excited to go to an activity. as den leader, i wasn't quite sure how it was going to work. luckily i can shift out of mom mode for most of the time, and he enjoys it so much.
it's times like this that i appreciate so much having a child young enough that stuff like this excites him . there's no battle. no coercing him to do something he doesn't want to do. i know that will come later, but for now i will enjoy it.
his birthday was also commemorated with the removal of the car seat. i could keep him in a car seat forever, but the space and independence is good. soon enough he'll be in the front seat driving. sigh

I'm bummed I wasn't there for it, but I'm so glad he was so excited for it.
I love boys getting ready for their first den meeting. The excitement of the uniform, the eagerness to do something new and the thrill of getting to hang out with other boys and do cool stuff. They are just so much fun to watch.
How did he get so big?! I still think of he and Katelyn as 2 year olds. Where has the time gone? Miss you guys!
