i will brag nice and loud and say that i love having parents/grandparents close by. everyone should have parents live close by. i realize that we are spoiled and i love it. i love that my kids have such a great relationship with their grandparents. i love that every food that they get at grandma's house is called grandma-(food name) grandma cheese, grandma juice, grandma snack.....you get the picture. the kids love going to grandma's house (and yes, it is grandma's house, sorry dad, dont take it personally). we get to eat at their house, we can ask for occasional babysitting, and the boys have even spent the night at their house all alone. it's so much fun, so i will say it again. we love having the parents/grandparents close by.
now....if only some cousins lived closer...

I WISH we had grandparents nearby. If only they'd move to Virginia. I KNOW I'll never live near the small town my parents live in and I'm pretty postive we won't be returning to UT and living in Provo near the other set. I guess we'll have to sit and envy your situation...
I've done my part with the "cousins" thing, so maybe its your turn with the "lived closer" part.

So, I think it's universal - it ALWAYS grandma's house. D's mom is Grammy, my mom is haba, and both grandpa's are just grandpa (with their individual name state after the grandpa part, when necessary). But we ALWAYS go to"Grammy's house" or "Haba's house". The grandpa's are occasionally swung into that: Grammy and grandpa's, or Haba and grandpa's. But really, grandma's always get top billing. Funny how that works! I guess women really ARE the dominant sex! All the way until we die!
As to your sister's comments - you COULD move to be closer to cousins, but then, you AND they would be away from the grandparents. What would that accomplish? :)
I am glad you have grandparents close for your kids but also I'm happy for them too. It's all a Win Win!
